LAKE CITY, SOUTH CAROLINA — A man was arrested by U.S. Marshals Task Force on Friday in the murder of a 15-year-old teen.
Eric Antonio Chavez, 22, has been charged with murder in the death of a 15-year-old boy earlier this week in Lake City, according to Lake City Police Chief Patrick Miles.
Kainon McKissick, 15, of Lake City was transported by EMS to an area hospital where he died of injuries after being shot Monday in the area of Elm Street in Darlington, according to Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken.
At around 3:30 p.m., officers responded to a shots-fired call on Durant Street.
After the victim was hit, he ran towards a path near Elm Street, where officers found him.
