TURLOCK, CALIFORNIA — The Turlock Police Department announced an arrest related to a nearly three-decade-old case.
On June 2, 1998, police said 19-year-old Alma Peralta was shot and killed in the 600 block of Angelus Street in Turlock. A second person was also shot but survived.
Investigators said the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute that escalated into violence.
Following an investigation, police identified Jose Luis Villa, 58, as one of the suspects in the shooting. A warrant was issued for Villa's arrest in 2011, but he remained at large for more than a decade while living in Mexico.
While conducting a system audit, a dispatcher with the Turlock Police Department found new information and an updated address in the area linking to Villa.
