SONDRIO, LOMBARDY, ITALY - The town of Sondrio in Lombardy has been rocked by an unbelievable act of violence. A 44-year-old woman was the victim of a brutal attack with a sexual background on her way home late on Monday evening. The perpetrator acted with extreme cruelty, raping the woman, biting off her ear and inflicting serious injuries all over her body. He also robbed his victim. The police were able to identify and arrest the alleged perpetrator just a few hours after the crime. He is a 24-year-old man from Mali.
Perpetrator caught shortly after the crime
The attack happened at around 11:30 p.m. not far from the station. The emergency services found the woman lying on the ground, bleeding and semi-conscious. Her face was swollen and she had deep lacerations on her body. She was immediately taken to the emergency room and is currently in intensive care. Thanks to a precise description provided by the medical staff who saw the perpetrator fleeing the scene, the police were able to locate the suspect quickly. They found the man nearby in a confused state and with blood-soaked clothing.
The officers found the victim's identity documents and bank card in the backpack of the 24-year-old, who is being held in a reception center in Colorina in Valtellina. According to the public prosecutor's office, the man was immediately transferred to the prison in Sondrio. He is accused of rape, robbery and grievous bodily harm.
