DAYTON, OHIO - United States Marshals arrested 50-year-old John Lamar Armstrong in Dayton on Monday afternoon. Armstrong was wanted by the East Cleveland Police Department for aggravated murder of Juvar King, and the Summit County Sheriff’s Office for the rape of a juvenile.

The United States Marshals Office said on February 5, 46-year-old Juvar King, of Warren, was reported missing after he failed to pick up his daughters.

On March 17, the East Cleveland Police Department found King’s body outside a home at the corner of Chapman Avenue and Terrace Road in East Cleveland.

According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner, King was fatally shot in the head. Armstrong was later identified as being involved in this deadly incident, and a warrant for aggravated murder was issued for his arrest.

In May, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for Armstrong for the rape of a juvenile.

Another suspect in King’s murder, 28-year-old Nathaniel Crockett was indicted by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury on June 17. He has a pretrial hearing on Tuesday at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center.

Marshals learned Armstrong was in Dayton and tracked him to a residence in the 3600 block of Delphos Avenue. A shot was fired from inside the residence and out the front door towards officers. SWAT was called up and eventually arrested Armstrong.

Armstrong will remain in custody in Dayton until he can be extradited back to the Cleveland area for the charges against him.
