DAVENPORT, IOWA - Additional charges have been filed in connection to an assault at a Davenport skatepark that left a man with serious injuries.
As a result of this investigation, Deonte Anderson, 23, has been charged with attempted murder and three additional counts of willful injury causing serious injury due to the injuries sustained by the victim, Davenport police said in a media release. Anderson remains in custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
On Aug. 15, Davenport police announced that Anderson had been arrested in connection to the assault. At that time, he was wanted on charges of willful injury causing serious injury. He also had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest.
The assault happened on June 10 when Davenport police, and medic EMS responded to a report of an assault at the Davenport skatepark, police said. They found an adult man with serious injuries and he was taken to a local hospital.
The victim, 34-year-old Eldon Caruthers, suffered numerous fractures and brain injuries, had a stroke and was partially paralyzed, his family told TV6 Investigates.
