HUNTERSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA - A North Carolina construction worker was punched in the face after he asked a driver to slow down for a work zone.
Caleb Johnson was waving his stop sign to halt traffic at the site in Huntersville when he was attacked on Tuesday.
Dramatic footage showed the driver initially taking Johnson's command and slowing down before turning violent.
Just seconds later, he emerged from his vehicle and hammered Johnson with a vicious punch to the side of his head.
The impact caused Johnson to drop his stop sign and stagger backward.
The construction worker called the situation 'crazy' and was struck by his aggressor's coldness.
Johnson told WSOC: 'I think the scariest part was (how) he talked to me. He was very non-threatening, non-aggressive.
'So, I think it's really scary that despite being in that much control, the fact he was still willing to hit someone.'
