CLEWISTON, FLORIDA - A Pahokee man was arrested Thursday after turning himself in to the Hendry County Sheriff's Office on an active warrant for charges including attempted murder.
On Wednesday, Aug. 20, at around 5 p.m., HCSO deputies responded to a scene in Clewiston after reports of shots being fired.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies spoke with a victim, who said that he was riding a four-wheeler in the Harlem community when a vehicle passed him while at a stop sign.
Deputies say the vehicle then stopped a short distance away, and a man dressed in black with a ski mask covering his face exited the passenger side of the vehicle and pointed an AR-15-style pistol at the victim.
The man, later identified as Jakobie McKinsey Jones, 24, fired multiple shots at the victim, which grazed the side of the victim's leg.
Deputies were unable to locate Jones at the time of the incident and issued an arrest warrant.
Jones turned himself in to HCSO on Thursday afternoon and is currently being held in the Hendry County Jail on an $80,000 bond. He faces charges of attempted murder, firing a gun in public and possession of a firearm by a Florida convicted felon.
