OPELIKA, ALABAMA — The Opelika Police Department says three men were taken into custody for their alleged connection to robberies.
According to Opelika PD, officers responded to a robbery that happened at the Color Vision Rent to Own, located at 3412 Pepperell Parkway.
The victim told police that they were meeting two males in the parking lot to sell a firearm. The two men agreed to buy the firearm and drove away to get the cash.
The pair then returned with another man, and during the transaction, one of the suspects reportedly pointed a gun at the victim before taking their money and the firearm that was on sale.
Opelika PD’s investigation led to 20-year-old Kenyan Dashun Vann of Opelika, being taken into custody by authorities for first-degree robbery on June 30.
Eventually, a 17-year-old juvenile from Auburn was taken into custody for first-degree robbery in connection to the incident.
Officers then responded to the 3500 block of Dale Avenue for an armed robbery, when two people told police that they were driving in the area when a U-Haul truck went around their vehicle and blocked their path.
Two suspects then jumped out of the truck and one pointed a firearm, while demanding money. Following the robbery, the two suspects left the scene in the truck, according to Opelika PD.
Detectives executed a search warrant on Aug. 20 and arrested 40-year-old Corey Sheve Cooper and 22-year-old Justin Martinez Monrell McGhee, both of Opelika.
