PINEVILLE, LOUISIANA - A registered sex offender who was arrested earlier this summer in connection with the Hilton Court home invasion, attempted murder and arson case has been indicted by a Grand Jury, according to the Pineville Police Department.
A Rapides Parish Grand Jury returned a true bill of indictment on Tuesday for Calvin Williams, Jr., 30, of Pineville. The indictment is for aggravated burglary, home invasion, aggravated arson, first degree rape and two counts of obstruction of justice as well as some new charges - two counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.
“This was a heinous act of violence that shook our community, and today’s indictment marks a critical step forward in the judicial process,” said the Pineville Police Department.
According to PPD, the incident happened in the 100 block of Hilton Court around 3:30 a.m. on June 20. Police said Williams, Jr., entered the home, armed with a handgun. Williams allegedly robbed the elderly homeowners, demanding both money and guns.
Police also reported that one of the victims was sexually assaulted during the home invasion. After committing the alleged crimes, Williams was accused of intentionally setting the home on fire before leaving the scene. He was arrested on June 27.
PPD added that Williams is also a registered sex offender and a convicted felon. He had already been taken into custody on June 25, being held on a parole violation in relation to this investigation.
Bond was set at $5,050,000.
