PENSACOLA, FLORIDA -- A 19-year-old man is charged with threatening to kill a Pensacola Police detective who's leading a homicide case, according to an arrest report.
Tamal Jenkins was arrested on Aug. 29 on a felony charge of sending a written threat to kill. He's being held in Escambia County Jail without bond on a probation violation.
According to the arrest report, on July 28, the detective received an Instagram message to her personal account that read: "imma kill you if you don't release Terrell false killers loose".
The report states the detective reported the message to investigators, who linked it back to Jenkins following an electronic devices search warrant, as well as other investigative work.
The detective is leading the June 2024 homicide of Terrell Omar Owens in Pensacola, according to the report.
Police first arrested 22-year-old Tyree Baldwin for murder in March. Officers then charged a second murder suspect, 24-year-old Kaylup Manning, on July 25 -- three days prior to the message that Jenkins allegedly sent the detective.
