CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — A 31-year-old Corpus Christi man has been sentenced to 180 months in federal prison for enticing a minor, according to U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei. Daniel Verduzco pleaded guilty on May 23 and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge David Morales.
The court noted that Verduzco met the victim while on duty as a police officer and considered his position and pursuit of the minor female when determining the sentence. Following his prison term, Verduzco will serve 10 years on supervised release with restrictions on his access to children and the internet. He will also be required to register as a sex offender, with restitution to be considered later.
Authorities discovered on Jan. 8 that Verduzco had a relationship with a 15-year-old minor dating back to May 2024. They exchanged over 3,700 messages, including sexually suggestive images and details of their encounters. Verduzco was taken into custody following the sentencing and will remain there pending transfer to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility.
