WILSON, NORTH CAROLINA - A Wilson man faces statutory rape charges after police say he sexually assaulted a teenager in 2022.
Deandreal Maurice Cannon, 38, of the 2100 block of Glendale Drive Southwest, is charged with two counts of statutory rape of a person 13, 14 or 15 years of age and one count of committing a statutory sex offense against a person 13, 14 or 15 years of age.
Sgt. Eric McInerny, public information officer with the Wilson Police Department, said officers responded to Wilson Medical Center in reference to a runaway juvenile on Feb. 10, 2022.
“The juvenile, a 15-year-old female, disclosed to officers that she had been sexually assaulted the previous evening,” McInerny said. “During the course of the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Cannon.”
